about evo

Evo is different. Our floor to ceiling windows span nearly 30 feet high. Some say this makes for the best people watching in town.

We think Chefs are entertaining. So, we've designed an open kitchen surrounded by counter seating to let you experience  them up close and personal.

When you're eating with a larger party or looking for a more intimate setting, our mezzanine tables are the perfect hideaway. Fortunately, thanks to those windows, your view of the city is just as good.

Matt has been interested in food since his first job picking strawberries at Maxwell’s Farm in Cape Elizabeth at the age of 14.  For over 10 years he has been cooking professionally in Portland and Boston. In Boston he honed his skills at several award winning restaurants, including Harvest and L'Espalier. He returned to Maine in 2012 as Chef de Cuisine at Five Fifty-Five where he continued his pursuit of excellence while cultivating and maintaining close relationships with local farmers.

Sarah has been a devoted leader in the restaurant industry for 20 years.  She found her passion for hospitality while working at The White Barn Inn and later its sister restaurant, Grissini.  Seeking to become a part of the growing restaurant scene in Portland, she joined the team at Five Fifty-Five and continued to foster her love for food, wine and people.  Her goal is to help make Evo the go-to restaurant in Portland for seamless service, delicious, unique food and a sense of community.
